Paraphrynus raptator, commonly known as the dusky-handed whip spider, is a species of amblypygid found in various regions across North and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. Its natural distribution includes:
- United States: Specifically in the Florida Keys.
- Mexico: Notably in the states of Campeche, Yucatán, Quintana Roo, and Tabasco.
- Guatemala: Particularly in the Petén region.
- Belize: Throughout various locales.
- Honduras: Including areas such as La Lima in Cortés Department and Útila Island in Islas de la Bahía Department.

This species typically inhabits tropical humid to very humid forests, ranging from elevations of 100 to 1,500 meters above sea level. It is considered a troglophile, meaning it often resides in caves but can also adapt to other environments, including human-altered areas.
